CEROX Molyar 304/316 Stainless Steel Test Solution
CEROX Molyar 304/316 Stainless Steel Test Solution is used to differentiate between 316 grade stainless and 304 grade stainless steel. 300 series stainless steels are the most widely used types. They have good mechanical properties. Within this stainless steel series, different grades are produced thanks to the diversified composition of the materials and hence advanced properties are achieved. 316 grade stainless steel displays better corrosion resistance due to its differentiated structure. In order to determine whether a stainless steel is 316 grade or 304 grade, a molyar test needs to be applied to the metal surface.
Reaction Time: 5-10 minutes (20°C)
Application: Bring the stainless steel piece to room temperature. The stainless steel part to be tested must be clean. It must be free of any dirt, oil, rust, etc. Place a drop of the test solution on the horizontal surface. At end of the reaction time, if the solution color changes from transparent to dark yellow to green to brown respectively, this is an indication that the stainless steel is 316 grade. If solution color stays transparent, the stainless steel is 304 grade. Once the test is completed, rinse the surface with drinking water.
Caution: Use goggles, gloves, and appropriate protective clothing during application. In case of skin contact wash the contact area with plenty of water. Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
